The Center for Global Asia (CGA) at NYU Shanghai and Asia Research Center (ARC) at Fudan University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the field of Asian Studies in China. The signing ceremony was held on May 10th, 2016 at NYU Shanghai.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will explore possibilities of co-hosting an annual conference on global Asia, jointly editing academic journals, compiling news items related to Asian Studies in China for The International Institute of Asian Studies’ (IIAS) Newsletter, establishing a joint postdoctoral associate fellowship program, applying for collaborative research projects, and co-teaching courses related to Asia.
Professor Joanna Waley-Cohen, Provost for NYU Shanghai and Professor Jin Guangyao, Director of Asia Research Center at Fudan University, signed the memorandum on behalf of ARC and CGA, respectively.

The Center for Global Asia at NYU Shanghai serves as the hub within the NYU Global Network University system to promote the study of Asian interactions, both historical and contemporary. The objective of the Center is to provide global societies with information on the contexts for the reemerging connections between the various parts of Asia through research and teaching.
Asia Research Center (ARC) at Fudan University
Officially founded in March 2002, the Asia Research Center at Fudan University (ARC-FDU) is one of the achievements of the cooperation of Fudan and the Korean Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS). Through the years, the center is making all the efforts to promote Asian Studies, including hosting conferences and supporting research projects. ARC-FDU keeps close connections with the ARCs in mainland China and many institutes abroad.
