Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman Elected AmCham Chair

NYU Shanghai Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman has been elected to serve as the Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai).

"I am truly honored that my colleagues on the Board of Governors have asked me to serve in this role once again,” said Lehman, who previously held the position during 2020 and 2021. “The Chamber is a vital source of value to the member community, and I look forward to participating in its continuing growth and development during the coming year.”

Known for his lifetime devotion to higher education in both China and the United States, Lehman has received the Friendship Award of the People’s Republic of China, and was named an Honorary Citizen of Shanghai, as well as one of the 40 most influential foreign experts during China’s first 40 years of reform and opening-up.

“Jeff is an experienced leader whose decades of experience as a senior executive and board member will be instrumental in developing AmCham Shanghai’s initiatives to support the American business community in China,” said Eric Zheng, president of AmCham Shanghai. “My staff and I look forward to working closely with the 2025 Board of Governors under Jeff’s leadership to strengthen engagement with US and Chinese stakeholders across all levels.”

Founded in 1915, AmCham Shanghai is a nonprofit, non-partisan business organization that supports its members to facilitate cross-border cooperation and deepen cross-cultural understanding between China and the United States. The Board of Governors is responsible for the Chamber’s strategy and for the Chamber’s compliance with all applicable laws.
