Apr 27 2016

Roxanne Roman, interned at the White House while studying away in Washington DC in Spring 2016. Roxanne is a Class of 2017 student majoring in Global China Studies.

“While studying away at NYU Washington DC, I interned full time with the Social Secretary in the Office of the First Lady. I assisted the Social Office team in executing close to 100 events, including the Canada and Nordic State visits, with thousands of guests of the President and First Lady. We ensure everyone - veterans, celebrities, kid geniuses, and everyday heroes - have a spectacular experience at the White House. In my time here, I’ve gained several office and administrative skills, developed an acute attention to detail, an ability to innovate and problem solve on the spot, a commitment to efficiency, and a love for public service. Working in the White House gave me exposure to the highest levels of American leadership has inspired me to dream big for myself and for the American people. I started the internship hoping to learn about government, I will leave having learned more about myself and with a sparked interest in finding my place in public service.”
